Purpose
of the role: The
role of the Clinical Psychologist will be to assume responsibility
for psychological assessment of clients within the Foundation and
potential clients, involved in the design and provision of rehabilitation
programmes and support of clients, families, staff an others, provide
professional/clinical support of other frontline professions as
appropriate, and to develop new innovative response on behalf of
the Foundation to the needs of clients with ABI and their families
in the general community.
Duties:
The Clinical Psychologist will:
* Perform such duties as are outlined by the Regional Manager.
*
Undertake assessments and conduct interventions and therapy appropriate
to the professional competence of Clinical Psychologists working
with both clients and their families as appropriate.
* Contribute to the overall planning and policy making of the service
through discussion with other members of the team. Provide professional
reports and information to other professional staff and other reports
as appropriate.
* Participate in lecturing and training to other healthcare staff,
both employees of the foundation and staff in nominated groups from
other organizations, ensuring that their career development is in
keeping with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Peter Bradley
Foundation.
* Undertake research in clinical psychology and co-operate in research
and evaluation programmes as appropriate.
* Liaise and cooperate with all members of the transdisciplinary
team as appropriate to provide the optimum service to the clients
referred.
* Keep abreast of and collaborate in the development and implementation
of Clinical Psychology techniques.
* Ensure that clinical records are kept up to date.
* Attend meetings, and case conferences where appropriate and contribute
to the development of the clinical specialism of Acquired Brain
Injury
* Collect, interpret and present, data and information on the psychological
activity in the foundation.
* Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
The
successful candidate will need the following skills and qualifications
to meet the demands of the role: Those entering post of Clinical
Psychologist in the Peter Bradley Foundation will:
(1)
Possess a university degree to diploma, recognised by the PSI, obtained
with a first or second class honours in which psychology was taken
as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject, or its
equivalent recognised by the PSI.
AND
(2) The candidate will possess a post-graduate professional qualification
recognised for this purpose by the PSI.
AND
(3) The post-graduate professional qualification will be appropriate
to the position i.e. will be in the area of professional psychology
for which the position is designated.
AND
(4) Have at least 5 years relevant professional experience in the
appropriate area of Psychology inclusive of any time spent in meeting
the requirements of (1) above.
The
candidate must also:

Possess a high standard of professional attainment
*
Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard
of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the post.
*
It is desirable that the candidate has specific skills and experience
in the assessment and intervention with clinical management of people
with neurological and other physical diagnosis.
*
Driving Licence and use of car.
